Required:

Minimum of three (3) years of the following experience:

. Content-focused business analysis experience related to web or intranet applications . Gathering user requirements and developing detail design documentation . Content analysis experience and analyzing web analytics data, including behavior analysis and site usage reports . Developing website definition and design documentation . Ability to write clear, concise, detailed requirements . Experience with user interfaces, image optimization, scripting, web accessibility standards, design & development standards, and cross- platform issues . Web 2.0 concepts and methods are essential . Demonstrated knowledge of principles of web design and user-centered design principles and practices . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university

 

Preferred:

. 4-year degree in HCI (Human Computer-Interaction), graphic/visual design, or related field or equivalent work, a plus . Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery and Prototype . Knowledge of W3C recommendations, accessibility issues, and best practices . Experience in Visio, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash (with ActionScript) . A talent for synthesizing research, market trends, competitive data, and other inputs into concrete product ideas . Experience with the following SharePoint features: Workflow, Business Data Catalog, Content Deployment, and Localization

 

The NC Department of Transportation Project Management Office is seeking a short-term (approx. 6 month) User Experience Designer contractor for it s NCDOT Website Redesign and Restructuring project.

The selected candidate will perform website analysis and design tasks and will prepare supporting documentation. The duties and responsibilities for this position include:

Requirements Gathering

. Plan, gather, elicit, analyze and document requirements to reorganize, deliver and publish internal and public-facing content .

Ensure accurate content, usability, site flow, search, presentation, etc. requirements and the goals of users and stakeholders are captured, documented and included in the redesign of the website Web Analysis . Analyze content and analyze and interpret web analytics to identify the appropriate environment for content (internet, intranet, other) and to drive redesign and restructure of NCDOT.gov . Document analysis findings and provide restructure and redesign recommendations based on analysis results Information Architecture Design . Employ information architecture methods, techniques and best practices to create the high-level site architecture that will serve as a blueprint upon which all other aspects of the website are built . Employ content stategy best practices and incorporate user experience research, usability, and UI/design into architecture . Research and develop search strategies for site content . Collaborate with team members to identify metadata and taxonomy requirements . Prepare scoping, inventory and metadata documentation for content migration . Incorporate key message themes, topics, and audience requirements into site structure and design . Document the information architecture with site mpas, site flow diagrams, wireframes, user profiles and any other documentation that clearly and effectively defines the new structure of the site and conveys how it will work . Plan and conduct usability testing on architectural design Usability Test Planning and Administration . Create usability test plans . Identify test participants and coordinate and administer usability tests
