When necessary the candidate will assist DCJS technical support staff with the daily tasks of monitoring and supporting the SAN/Storage infrastructure. Daily tasks on storage devices (DS8300, DS4700, DS4300 / SVC, XIV, Shark):
Allocate/Deallocate LUNs
Create/Manage LUNs/Pools/Arrays/Disk Groups
Create/Manage Host Connects
Create/Manage Volume Groups/Clusters
Monitor/Address stability of Storage Devices
Assist Server Administrators/DBAs with integration/management of storage

Daily tasks on Fiber network (SAN):
Implement/Manage Fiber Connections
Install/Manage Fiber cables
Create/Manage zones
Monitor/Address stability of Fiber Network
Assist Server Administrators/DBAs with Fiber connectivity/management

The SAN/Storage infrastructure supports mission-critical Integrated Justice and legacy eJustice applications running on IBM P-Series, Sun Solaris, Linux, Windows and WMWARE servers.  DCJS serves ~500 TB of storage to ~300 hosts.  No storage based copy services are utilized.  DCJS is currently in the process of decommissioning the Shark and DS4300/SVC environments.  DCJS has two Storage Area Networks and several archive environments that are direct connects.  One SAN is local the other spans two remote datacenters in the Albany area.  The four member team that manages the SAN / Storage infrastructure is also responsible for a five Cluster VMware infrastructure.

Periodic travel between sites in the Albany area may be required.  In addition, due to the critical nature of these services, the Specialist III will be required to assist DCJS technical staff in 24x7 on-call coverage for production problem resolution.
