 Data warehouse Developer with RSI DiscoverTax, Java, SQL, T/SQL, ETL, Windows 7/2008, and state tax experience

The successful candidate will have, at minimum, the following skills:

     Experience and expertise in gathering and analyzing business user

requirements.

     Proficiency in Java development.

     Experience and expertise in SQL, including development of T/SQL

queries and data manipulation.  Expert knowledge of databases and

relational database concepts.   Experience with SQL Server 2005

required.

     Experience with Windows 7 operating system and the Windows 2008

server environment.

     Experience with Data Warehouse concepts, including the use of

Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools and creation of data marts.

     Ability to learn new applications and skills sets.

     Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in

writing.

     Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with

business users, management, vendors, and peers.

     Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.

Ability to complete assignments on time.

     Understanding of deployment methodology concepts including design,

build, testing, and deployment.

 

Highly desirable:

     Prior experience with state tax applications, particularly tax

compliance programs.

     Experience with the RSI DiscoverTax application.

 

The following application tasks are expected to be executed by the Data Warehouse systems/application analyst.  All tasks will involve some degree of up front analysis prior to development or execution, as well as several phases of system and user acceptance testing.

     Serve as project technical lead for development and implementation

of tax compliance programs, including those based on IRS extract files.

     Development of tax calculations via the DiscoverTax "Tax Calc"

component.  There is a user interface that supports creation of the tax calc routines, however, complex calculations may require the development of external Java objects that are called by the tax calc process.

     Creating and executing "views" to be utilized by the DiscoverTax

audit selection process.

     Maintaining all application level configurations and parameters for

the DTAX compliance programs.  In addition to items listed above, these include various system reference codes, workflow rules, scoring parameters, correspondence templates.

     Monitoring of DiscoverTax offline processes.  These include primary

indicator, legacy system gateway, nightly data refresh process, and collections scoring.

     Train less experienced SCDOR Data Warehouse staff, especially full-

time SCDOR employees, in the development and implementation of tax compliance programs.

     Performing ad hoc queries using T/SQL and stored procedures for data

maintenance

 

Lower priority:

     Preparing and loading of data into the Data Warehouse using the

Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools.

     Setting up and running the DiscoverTax Associate and Grow (A&G)

offline process for data cleansing and matching.  This includes configuring the A&G match keys.

     Supporting installation of new DiscoverTax, WinDRS, and TaxMaster

releases

     Maintaining custom offline routines such as legacy system Gateway,

Primary Indicator, etc based on business rule changes

     Performing database utility functions, such as SQL Server Analytical

Services for OLAP , DTS, SSIS, etc for loading and analysis of data.
