Job Description:

The candidate will be required to have extensive "GUIDE" experience and assist current staff with significant modification to its GUIDE-based Benefit Payments systems.

 

Responsibilities:

1.       Assisting permanent staff in the development and support of mainframe programs for the Unemployment Insurance Benefit Payment System.

2.       Through testing of programs

3.        Verifying accuracy (Code must be concise, efficient and easily maintainable and conform to State and ESC IS Divisional standards.

4.        Developing a thorough knowledge of the application area

5.        Work independently with users in defining system requirements and solutions to service requests

6.       Efficiently troubleshooting program bugs

7.        Assisting in recovery procedures

8.        Creating JCL and writing COBOL Batch and CICS programs that access VSAM files

9.        Conduct analysis for new application development and on existing systems that may require significant changes

10.    Demonstrate the capability to determine the best implementation for enhancements to legacy systems.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

1.       Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience with development, maintenance and support of the GUIDE benefit payment system

2.       Extensive understanding of and experience with GUIDE-based COBOL/CICS code

3.       Extensive understanding of and experience with GUIDE-based data structures (flat file VSAM)

4.        Hands-on experience in modifying GUIDE-based code, and adding new programs/components

5.        Thorough knowledge of the requirements for implementation of the EUC and EB program and understanding their associated business rules

6.       Demonstrated ability in the detection and correction of deficiencies or errors in GUIDE-based COBOL/CICS code and data

7.       Understanding GUIDE-based legacy system documentation

8.       Minimum of three (3) years experience and knowledge in business application development

9.       Minimum of three (3) years hands-on experience with, COBOL, JCL, CICS and VSAM

10.    Experience related to the development of complex applications

11.    Experience working with large datasets across multiple platforms


Preferences:

·         IBM MQ Series Middleware (CICS and batch application use of)

·         Endevor Source Management Application

·         Systemware print/output application

·         Mainframe batch FTP processes

·         Good mathematical skills
