Description:
NC A&T State University is seeking an individual to provide IT Support in Systems and Operations in the department of the Division of Information Technology. The selected candidate will manage and support the UNIX and Linux environments and will be responsible for programming and assisting in daily operations of the Unix and Linux operating environments.
Required:
Education/Experience - minimum 2-year technical degree and at least 4 years experience and/or 4-year Bachelors Degree and at least 3 years experience in any of the following fields: Information technology, computer science, or engineering. Having certifications in Oracle Solaris and Red Hat is preferred.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
•Knowledge of Oracle Solaris and X86 server level hardware.
•Current expertise/formal training in Oracle Solaris and Red Hat linux administration.
•Demonstrated knowledge of Apache/Tomcat software.
•Demonstrated knowledge of Hardware RAID configuration.
•Demonstrated knowledge of SAN configuration for OS.
•Technical knowledge of SAN infrastructure.
•Ability to write and speak effectively
•Hands on system maintenance experience; including the ability to install patches/software and enhancements.
OTHER SKILLS:
•Ability to work afterhours to perform system maintenance, as required (Usually once a month, but adjusted as needed to meet business goals)
•Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
•Ability to document work and processes
•Ability to research problems and present solutions
•Ability to handle stressful situations with a calm demeanor
•Ability to handle high customer demands
