QA Tester with VSTS, TFS, ASP.Net, C#, Ajax, jQuery, web services, IIS and agile experience

The eFECS team in UWIT requires a journey level test engineer to work in an agile software development process. The test engineer’s primary focus will be validation of business requirements, defining test goals/objectives, and building automated tests using Microsoft .NET technology. The candidate will have experience developing clear and concise test documents, working in a collaborative team environment, conducting reviews of test plans to ensure adequate coverage and emphasis on key risk areas. Test code will be developed using version 2010 of VSTS and TFS with potential participation in an upgrade to 2012. The position will be split 60% within skill category 11 – Software Quality Assurance & Testing and 40% skill category 15 – Client Server, Web & N-Tier Application Development.
The Journey Test Engineer brings journey level skills in:
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience in ASP.NET software development.

• Building test harnesses, frameworks, test code and populating test databases to support test cases.
• Developing tests as part of an agile development process with competency in test driven development.
• Developing, reviewing and improving test plans and suites to ensure quality, coverage and effectiveness.
• Clearly documenting test outcomes, timely reporting of defects and working within project time constraints.
• Effective prioritization of test cases based on failure impact and risk for business scenarios.
• Languages/Platforms/Frameworks: ASP.NET4, C#, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, HTML5, DOM, CSS3.
• Cross-cutting standards: consuming web services (SOAP/WSDL, REST), XML/XSL/XSD, X/HTML.
• Middleware: IIS6+.
• IDEs and Development Tools: Microsoft VS2010, Team Foundation Server 2010.
• Using code versioning, branching and release methodologies.
• Developing automated tests including the following:
o Unit
o Integration
o Performance and Load testing
o UI testing
• Test Plan design and Test Cases generation
• Using an agile software development process.
The Journey Test Engineer is proficient in current testing practices and frameworks for web-based applications, user experience design and user interface design, Web content accessibility guidelines, Web services, databases enterprise middleware and system interfaces across multiple computing platforms. The Journey Test Engineer is technically competent, has extensive knowledge and working experience in testing during across all phases of application development and large multi-generational code base, communicates effectively, and is able to work both independently and as part of a team collaborating on complex projects. The test engineer must adhere to the existing standards and procedures. This position requires a self-starter with excellent communication skills.
