IBM DB2 Consultant with BMC utilities, backup/restore/tuning, IPDS Printing, IMB Bar Code and ASC X12/HL7 experience

The NC Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a short term Programmer (12 months) to assist with ACTS (Automated Collection and Tracking System) web performance and upgrade changes and mainframe program upgrades. The selected candidate will be expected to provide business analysis, system analysis, system documentation, programming and support.
Additional responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• IPDS Printing: Expert level setup and support for IPDS printing and setup. The candidate needs to understand mainframe printing to distributed printers, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and advise on printer setup/purchase to ensure printers function correctly. This candidate will need to program and configure mainframe print jobs to various styles of printers and advise on which printers are correct for use within the state;
• IMB Bar Code: The USPS has instituted a new requirement for the installation and support of a bar code system for all mass mailings. The candidate needs to configure, program, and troubleshoot all post installation issues with the installation of the IMB software. The candidate will need to understand the interactions between forms creation software, a mainframe based merge program, and a mainframe based mail creator while being able to troubleshoot any program issues associated with the bar code generation; and
• ASC X12 and HL7 Interface Engine: The candidate needs the skill and ability to understand the implementation of an HL7 interface engine with regard to ASC X12 standards. The candidate will need to couple this understanding with the knowledge of the stakeholder’s business requirements (i.e., interfaces with other applications, etc.), in order to satisfy the HL7/ASC 12 objectives/needs of the stakeholder.
Required:
Candidate MUST have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the following areas:
• DB2 Stored Procedures
• DB2 Database access
• Experience with and knowledge of structured system development methodologies;
• Experience planning, defining, organizing, recommending and documenting database modifications in multiple Version 10.0 DB2 subsystems.
• BMC DB2 Utilities
• Uplifting older versions and technologies to newer versions and state-of-the-art technologies
• Monitoring projects area for quality assurance
Candidate Must be Proficient in the following areas:
• Use of DB2 utilities for backup, restore and maintenance of large Version 10.0 DB2 databases
• Providing database administration support for Websphere applications.
• Performance monitoring and tuning of large DB2 mainframe database
