System Administrator (Specialist II):

Duties:  responsible for configuration, implementation, and maintenance of the operating environment, including: servers, firewalls, load balancers, main and backup storage devices, and Web and application servers.

Examples of System Administration activities and responsibilities that will be required of the Contractor in this project include, but not limited to:

1. · Develop and implement data backup and recovery procedures;
2. · Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity procedures in the event of server failures;
3. · Operating system maintenance tasks including installing patches for problem resolution and security enhancements;
4. · Monitor servers to ensure operation within acceptable parameters.  Initiate diagnostics and repair of servers in case of failure;
5. · Tune servers to run at optimal performance;
6. · Respond proactively to performance issues with hardware and software;
7. · Maintain systems for high availability, which includes working off-hours, as needed.
