Positions:
SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
. PROACTIVELY LEAD THE CLIENT SERVICES TEAM IN THE DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS OF USER SUPPORT AND HELP DESK OPERATIONS.
. TRACK AND ADMINISTER ALL RELEVANT DISTRIBUTED SOFTWARE LICENSES, USAGE AGREEMENTS, UPDATES AND MAINTENANCE CONTRACTS.
. COORDINATE LIFE-CYCLE REPLACEMENT PLANNING, SCHEDULING AND IMPLEMENTATION FOR LAPTOP AND DESKTOP COMPUTERS FOR FACULTY, STAFF, LAB AND SMART CLASSROOMS. MAINTAIN AN ASSET DATABASE OF ALL CLIENT SERVICES SUPPORTED TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT.
. WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE OTHER IT DIRECTORS TO MEET THE OBJECTIVES AND COMPLETE THE TACTICS FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AS DEFINED BY THE INSTITUTIONAL STRATEGIC PLAN.
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
THIS POSITION IS A MEMBER OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES DIVISION AND REPORTS TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION IS DIRECTING A PROFESSIONAL STAFF WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL DISTRIBUTED AND END USER TECHNOLOGY AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPSTATE. THIS INCLUDES THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY HELP DESK, PERSONAL COMPUTER/DESKTOP COMPUTING SUPPORT, END- NODE NETWORK SUPPORT, ACADEMIC COMPUTER LABS, AND RELATED SERVICES THAT SUPPORT ALL ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE UNITS OF THE UNIVERSITY.
REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED
EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH DESKTOP HARDWARE, OPERATING SYSTEMS, NETWORKING AND APPLICATION SOFTWARE, PARTICULARLY IN A MICROSOFT ENVIRONMENT.
THREE YEARS PREVIOUS MANAGEMENT AND SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION HIGHLY DESIRABLE.
INDUSTRY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS OF CURRENT AND EMERGING TRENDS AND INNOVATIONS IN DISTRIBUTED AND DESKTOP TECHNOLOGIES AND SUPPORT STRATEGIES.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION BACKUP, SECURITY, STANDARDS, AND POLICY.
PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE OR A RELATED FIELD AND FIVE YEARS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN DISTRIBUTED TECHNOLOGIES AND DESKTOP COMPUTING IN A NETWORKED ENVIRONMENT, HELP DESK OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT, AND CLIENT SUPPORT SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY TRAINING, OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.
