Website Redesign and Restructuring project
The NC Department is seeking a short term (approx. 12 month) Lead Information Architect contractor for its Client Website Redesign and Restructuring project. The selected candidate will lead and perform website analysis, design tasks and oversee development of supporting documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
. Serve as a key conduit with project team and end-user community defining requirements to restructure, reorganize & deliver internal and public- facing content . Facilitate group discussions to ensure content, usability, site flow, search, presentation, etc. requirements are captured, documented and included in the redesign . Identify metadata & taxonomy requirements . Lead content analysis and website analytics to identify successes and areas for improvement, determine the appropriate environment for content (internet, intranet, other) . Ensure pertinent data and statistics are available to govern the architecture design . Direct scoping, inventory and metadata documentation for content migration . Create high-level site architecture for the internet and intranet platforms and serves as a blueprint upon which all other aspects of the site are built . Research, develop and implement search strategies . Work with User Experience Designers to develop documentation that clearly and effectively defines the new structure and conveys how it will work . Collaborate with graphic designer to define and develop graphical user interface (GUI) style, layout principles, aesthetic design concepts and web standards that integrate well with the architecture . Design and create intranet solutions for internal content utilizing Microsoft SharePoint and other .NET components . Work with intranet team to plan - migrate designated content to intranet repositories . Lead test plan development, oversee and evaluate usability & user acceptance testing . Oversee development of all necessary system design documentation to include but not limited to: requirements, storyboarding, user interface designs, site maps, site flow diagrams, wire frames, test plans, etc.
. Work closely with the Project Manager to define tasks, activities and deliverables, and to estimate the work effort, for the design, execute and deploy phases . Ensure design and final product satisfies requirements, goals and objectives and is in compliance with the NC statewide architecture and security standards, policies and procedures
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Required:
. Minimum 3 (three) years of experience as an Information Architect . Minimum 3 (three) years of conten-focused business analysis experience related to web or intranet applications . Minimum 3 (three) years of experience gathering user requirements and developing detail design documentation . Minimum 3 (three) years of content analysis experience and analyzing web analytics, data, including behavior analysis and site usage reports . Minimum 3 (three) years of experience in developing website definition and design documentation . Minimum 3 (three) years of enterprise website development and testing experience . Minimum 3 (three) years of Microsoft SharePoint architecture, design, implementation and deployment experience . Minimum 3 (three) years of experience with the following SharePoint
features: Workflow, Business Data Catalog, Content Deployment, and Localization . Demonstrated knowledge of principles of web design and user-centered design principles and practices . Master of web standards, design principles, and scalable dynamic web user interfaces . Strong knowledge of W3C recommendations, accessibility issues, and best practices . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Excellent organizational and presentation skills . Ability to communicate technical terms and concepts to non-technical staff . Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
Preferred:
. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Visio . Familiarity with System Development Life Cycle . Degree in a related field, such as Library Science, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Technical Communications . Knowledge of enterprise web content management and publishing systems, with experience documenting publishing and content process workflows . Talent for synthesizing research, market trends, competitive data, and other inputs into concrete product ideas
