Required:

. Minimum of five years experience in a Visual Basic.NET software development environment . Bachelors degree in an Information Technology related field . Microsoft certified in software development . Excellent communication skills (written and oral) . Excellent Planning and Organizational skills

 

Three (3) references must be provided

A coding test provided to the candidate following the interview.

 

The NCDA&CS-Agronomic Division is seeking an experienced software developer to continue custom development of a Web/Windows based Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Agronomic Division's six laboratories (Nematology, Plant, Waste, Solution, Media, and Soil Testing). This assignment will be for approximately 5 - 6 months. The LIMS shall be developed in accordance with NCDA&CS ITSS Software Development and Database standards and Statewide ITS architecture standards.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Develop LIMS software based on existing Screen Prototype and Functionality design documents. (LIMS software shall include the following Web based

components):

. Maintenance Utilities

. Worklists

. Recommendations to include Calculations . Status Advance . Shipment Tracking Interface . Accounts Receivable Interface . Reporting and Ad hoc query . Lab Instrument Interfaces to include Calculations (Windows based).

 

The above components shall be integrated with the following recently developed, and functioning, Web based LIMS components:

Role Based Security (interfaced with NCID and Active Directory) Sample Receiving Data Entry, and Maintenance Utilities.

 

The Selected Candidate Shall Provide the Following:

. Detailed system documentation and user training for approximately sixty NCDA&CS Agronomic staff . Plan for knowledge transfer and turnover of the application to NCDA&CS Information Technology personnel . Provide weekly written status report of weekly status meetings with the Agency Project Manager and Agronomic staff and shall adhere to projects schedule and milestones

 

Ability To:

. Translate non-technical user requirements into a technical format . Communicate technical concepts to technical staff and non-technical business users . Develop positive business customer relationships

 

Preferred:

. Software development experience:

. In implementation of a similar solution with similar complexity, and with other North Carolina Agencies.
