A. Brief Description of Work
The MDIT/MDOT OSS does not have senior technical state resources to assist the department and team with key new generation projects. AS/ MDOT has made a strategic move from WebSphere/Struts to JBOSS SOA/ Spring. Resources are needed with senior level experience within this new environment that can provide technical consulting support as well as knowledge transfer to the existing team. The resources will report directly to the Operations Systems Manager.
B. Background on the work requested
During the last fiscal year, AS/MDOT has implemented a JBOSS SOA/ Spring and JBOSS Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). This is the standard architectural environment for all new, critical development projects.
Current resources have struggled to develop in this new environment due to lack of experience and knowledge. Additionally, six developers have left OSS with no replacements. This has hampered its ability to support the New Development Call and use the full functionality of the new architecture.
The work associated with this position is:
• Verify the current JBOSS SOA/Spring implementation
• Optimize the architecture as needed
• Establish JBOSS SOA governance, design and development standards
• Architect server level interfaces and configurations
• Architect JBOSS workflow and DROOLS based systems
• Research and provide technical consultation on new generation
development tools
• Mentor Technical Leads in the design paradigm of the JBOSS SOA/
Spring architecture
• Train developers in the programming paradigm of the JBOSS SOA/Spring
architecture
C. Description of the requested work, including deliverables and
knowledge transfer
The scope of work associated with this project follows the MDIT SUITE Methodology. This covers the entire software maintenance life cycle to include initiation, requirements, analysis, design, construction, test, implementation, and closeout. This project will not include governance or management.
TASKS:
Technical support is required to assist with the following tasks (In a production environment):
Application Architecture Consulting
Establish JBOSS SOA governance, design and development standards Architect server level interfaces and configurations Architect JBOSS workflow and DROOLS based systems JBOSS SOA governance and design strategies and implementation Business Requirements Elicitation Technical Requirements Elicitation Requirements Dependency Analysis and Estimation Business and Technical Modeling Business and Technical Design
