The Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) contractor position. The selected candidate will work as a member of the Distributed Database Support group in OITS and will provide database technical support and consulting. The Individual will provide support for Oracle, Oracle RAC, Oracle DataGuard, and Oracle Advanced Security and will be involved in the development of policies and procedures for the effective use of the databases and ensure standards are adhered to. Providing assistance in database design may also be required.

Main Duties/Responsibilities Include:
Installation of the database software product
Applying new releases/patches, configuration, performing backup and recovery, monitoring databases performance and reorganizing database structures as needed
Creation and modification of test and production data base schemas
Facilitating migration of database components
Consultation, analysis, and training statewide

Expectations will include but are not limited to:
Through understanding of the relational database model and solid theoretical knowledge or relational database techniques
Ability to see the big picture and conceptualize and document creative solutions
 
Required:
Minimum of 4 years of experience with the Oracle plus (1) year of experience with Oracle RAC and DataGuard 
Demonstrable skills with Oracle DB software including: (Database Server 10g/11g, Real Application Servers (RAC), DataGuard, and Recovery Manager (RMAN)
Ability to install, configure, patch, and support Oracle DB Server on Windows and Unix/Linux/AIX platforms 
Ability to author code in SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting languages
Experience with mid-size to large Oracle databases (100GB to 1TB)
Considerable knowledge of the analysis process and project management skills
Ability to plan and coordinate the work of others and maintain effective working relationships
Excellent effective communication (both oral and written)

Graduation from a four-year college or university with nine semester hours in programming and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development. Note: Experience in the field of work related to the positions role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 

Preferred:
Skills with Microsoft SQL Server including Windows Clustering and DB replication
IT Technical certifications and Oracle GRID experience
 
This position will require the candidate to participate in an on-call support rotation
