Network Engieneer with CISCO ASA firewall, VPN, LAN, CSM, CCNA/CCNP/CCSP/CISSP/CCIE and government experience

The NC Department of Transportation is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) assignment. The purpose of this position is to design, configure, test, monitor, and maintain the NCDOT computer network security hardware and software infrastructure, primarily NCDOT and ITS managed Cisco ASA firewall infrastructure. Candidate will assist the Network Services Network Security Team providing advanced technical production support and a focused task to upgrade core data center Cisco ASA firewalls and approximately 300 field Cisco ASA firewalls the latest Cisco ASA recommended IOS release. This upgrade process will require detailed analysis and redesign of the firewall configurations to be compatible with the new Cisco ASA IOS release, which includes redesigning configurations including NAT translations, VPN configurations, IP routing and multi-interface policy. The candidate will also interact with employees at all levels in all DMV and other DOT offices across the State as needed to implement network security solutions and provide an advanced point of escalation for network security issues.
REQUIRED:
• Advanced, minimum 2 years operational experience with security policy design, support and deployment using Cisco ASA firewalls.
• Proficient operational configuration and support of site-to-site VPN solutions using Cisco ASA firewalls.
• Moderate familiarity with all network technologies and equipment, particularly data center LAN environments.
• Experience with structured change management processes.
• Ability to manage tasks and meet schedules.
• Must have good organizational and English communication skills, written and oral.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must have excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Willingness to accommodate occasional regional travel.
PREFERRED:
• Prefer experience in an NCDOT or Government environment.
• Prefer experience migrating from Cisco ASA IOS version 8.2 to 8.4
• Experience installing, configuring and operating Cisco Security Manager (CSM).
• Currently active CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, or CISSP certifications, expiration within past 2 years.
• Currently active CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert) Security certification, or expiration within past 5 years.
