The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 12 month) contractor assignment for a Web Designer/Developer. DHHS is moving to a Content Management System using DotNet Nuke (DNN). This candidate will be a lead coordinator for all updates made to the departmental website and other internal DHHS websites, as well as coordinating with and training other DHHS divisional/office webmasters, business staff and IT staff on how to maintain their sites.

The selected candidate will:

•

Provide expert web design and technical support and guidance for the DHHS Web Site

•

Have primary responsibility for the integration of separate divisional websites into the main departmental website using DNNA

•

Ensure all designs achieve usability and ADA compliant web GUI (This process involves updating existing sites to use the defined departmental DNN Content Management System, moving content to reside in the proper navigational paths and updating existing sites as needed to maintain uniformity)

 

Required Skills:

•

Intimate knowledge and hands-on experience with:

•

DotNet Nuke, ASP.NET/C#, CSS

•

JavaScript, SQL, XML, HTML, AJAX

•

Image Editing (e.g. Photoshop)

•

Installing and configuring custom or third party DNN modules for highly visible public web sites

•

Designing and implementing look and feel of DNN sites using DNN Skins and Responsive Web Design (RWD) concepts

•

Constructing page templates using CSS-based layout techniques 

•

Familiarity with integration of DNN and social media web sites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.)

•

Hands-on experience configuring and administering DNN, IIS and SQL Server

•

Excellent consultative & technical problem solving skills

•

Troubleshooting DNN, web or database related technical issues

•

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•

Knowledge of disability accesses, accessibility for people with visual and hearing impairments through the use of screen readers and captioning tools

Preferred Skills:

•

Ability to manage and convert various audio and video formats

•

Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies and methodologies 

•

Developing DNN add-ons/modules using ASP.NET

•

Developing custom JavaScript/jQuery/JQuery UI functionality, ASP.NET applications and SQL Server based schemas
