.Net Architect with GIS/Esri, SQL Server, Windows/Unix, web services, single sign-on, workflow and government experience

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a Solutions Architect contractor for an approximately 8 month engagement on the Departments Prioritization 3.0 and Contractor Access Management (CAMP) projects. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for creating the overall solution architecture, including application integration, platform integration and implementation, so experience in the integration of solutions that cross technologies and platforms is required. This individual is knowledgeable in all aspects of system integration and has a basic understanding of network systems and hardware. The individual must have proven experience with web-based architectures, Single Sign-On, and claims-based security technology, specifically experience with designing and implementing integrated claims-based architectures across multiple technologies. The Solution Architect will work closely with NCDOT’s Enterprise Architects in designing and integrating the overall solution, including producing a Technical Architecture Systems Design document per State IT requirements.
Role responsibilities:
• Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, and operating system environment, interfaces
• Architect solution options in accordance with State and NCDOT Enterprise Architecture and security standards
• Define and document the final application architecture
• Work with the developers to design the components of the application
• Analyze and estimate feasibility and compatibility with hardware and other programs
• Provide coordination and leadership for vendor project resources
• Consult with clients to prototype, refine, test, and debug applications to meet needs
• Project technical leadership capabilities, design and development oversight
Required skills:
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in advanced technologies
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience architecting enterprise technical solutions
• Strong, demonstrated design and development skills (object-oriented analysis and design techniques)
• Comprehensive IT analytical skills and strong problem-solving analytical skills
• Experience with web-based architectures, Single Sign-On, and claims-based security technology, specifically experience with designing and implementing integrated claims-based architectures across multiple technologies
• Demonstrated experience in working with external technology vendors
• Project technical leadership capabilities, design and development oversight
Additional Preferred Skills:
• Experience on large government projects
• Working knowledge of various multi-user, multi-tasking operating systems/platforms (Unix, Windows)
• Experience with integrating multiple technologies with Sharepoint 2013
• GIS systems knowledge, including experience integrating Esri GIS with other applications
• .NET application design and development , Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Office 2010
• Business web applications and Web Services to include design/development
