Job Description: Assists in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity. Participates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement
DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide excellent customer service including on-call support to end-users
Create, administer and maintain VMware host and guest systems with the VCenter administrator.
Create, administer and maintain MS Active Directory and Group Policies within an enterprise environment.
Create, configure, deploy and maintain Microsoft server operating systems, applications and SQL databases.
Uses industry best practices to administer and maintain provided services including backups and data recovery solution(s), Microsoft clustering, user account administration, workstation management, SAN & DAS storage systems, etc.
Install and deploy approved network software and applications using MS Group Policies, Microsoft & Novell workstation management system, or locally created installation scripts as required.
Perform assessments, installations, and configuration of server hardware as required.
Monitor and maintain the CCSD anti-virus system.
Maintain and support the CCSD student information system (SIS).
Maintain and support Pearson SIF zones, ZIS servers, SIF agents.
Monitor and maintain network DHCP and DNS services.
REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
Thorough knowledge of VMware 4 and 5 and capable of administering VCenter and standalone ESXi environments.
Hands-on experience with virtual environment servers, fiber switches and storage area networks
Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory and MS server operating systems.
Experience administering network user accounts in a Microsoft environment.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols
PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
Experience directly supporting SIF environments.
Experience directly supporting MS SQL databases.
Experience deploying applications and workstation management using Microsoft Group Policies and local scripting.
Experience in a Novell Products in a Linux environment, including Access Manager, IDM, eDirectory, etc.
Attention to detail; strong interpersonal skills; oral communication skills and experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Associates Degree in Networking Technology or related field
