DB2 z/OS (mainframe) Programmer with CA Utilities, IBM Utilities, SMPE, DB2 System Maintenance/Installation, MVS/zOS, TSO, JCL, DB2Connect, Data Sharing, File Master, Insight, Detector and Data Studio experience

Location:  Raleigh NC

Duration:  6 months

Our client  is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) contractor position. The selected candidate will perform DB2 z/OS System Programmer support functions.

Responsibilities will include:

• All aspects of the DB2 environments, including multiple sysplexes with multiple DB2 subsystems

• Collaborating with other DB2 systems programmers to resolve problems and maintain DB2 and Utility products

• Installing and maintaining DB2 and other associated software as required

• Provide technical support and trouble shooting for DB2 issues, including working with application DBAs statewide

• Coordinating DB2 and associated DB2 software changes with ITS and other agencies to ensure systems availability and reliability

• Consulting extensively with product vendors to identify problems and potential fixes

• Monitor DB2 and associated DB2 product performance

• Meet with clients, set priorities, and develop work schedules and plans

 

Required:

• Experience: DB2, CA Utilities, IBM Utilities, SMPE, DB2 System Maintenance and Installation 

• Thorough and extensive knowledge of mainframe DB2 computing in a DB2 MVS/zOS environment

• Extensive experience as a zOS systems programmer

• Demonstrated knowledge of the SMPe process

• Thorough knowledge of TSO, JCL, and standard utility programs

• Basic knowledge of PC software for word processing and spreadsheet analysis

• Strong analytical ability

• Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret organizational and procedural problems and suggest alternatives in existing systems

• Ability to prepare detailed reports and to present factual data clearly and concisely in both oral and written form

• Ability to plan and coordinate the work of others

• Excellent communication skills ( in oral and written form)

• Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

• Experience DB2Connect , Data Sharing, File Master, Insight, Detector, Data Studio
