Client is undertaking a review of data security at the Department to include risk analysis/vulnerability assessment of its systems, assessment of physical security, security awareness training, development and enhancement of security plans.
The project will consist of the following:
• An analysis of the system for any potential vulnerability that could result from poor or improper system configuration, both known and unknown hardware or software flaws and operational weaknesses in process or technical countermeasures.
• An assessment of physical security and specific enhancements in the area of security awareness and training. Security plans for selected Client systems will be created, reviewed and\or updated as part of this assessment.
Deliverables
The Contractor will produce a final report that includes a complete risk analysis for data security at Client and recommendations for eliminating or decreasing risk. The recommendations must also include the level of effort and/or cost required to complete each separate recommendation.
Computing Environment
The Agency’s desktop computers are all Business class machines with multi core processors and Windows XP operating systems. The Department laptops run a mix of Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems. All desktop and laptop computers in the Agency are Dell computers. The Agency utilizes physical servers running VMWare Esxi 3.5 and VSphere 4 to host virtual servers running Linux, Windows 2003, and Windows 2008 operating systems. The Agency’s current standard for its network operating system is Novell OES. GroupWise 8 is used for email. Other network software that is being utilized at the department include Citrix, Oracle, and IIS.
Technical Infrastructure
The Department has two offices, with the main office being located in Columbia, and a small office located in Charleston. The two offices are connected via the States MPLS network. The Department network infrastructure includes a CheckPoint Firewall and Cisco Switches.
