Oracle DBA with designing, modeling, Oracle RAC, GRID, Data Guard, RMAN, Windows, Linux, Solaris, AIX, MS SQL Server and government Experience

Description:
North Carolina State Office of Information Technology Services (OITS) is seeking to fill a short term (approx 6 month) contractor assignment to provide database technical support and consulting. Areas of responsibility are Oracle, Oracle RAC, Grid Control, Advanced Security and backup support for Microsoft SQL server.
Responsibilities & Duties:
•Installation, configuration, release & security patching, facilitating migration of test data base components to production
•Performance monitoring and instance tuning
•Verification of database backup/recovery environments
•Ensuring recovery objectives can be met
•Assist application DBA's in operational areas such as re-orgs and re-index as needed
•Architect logical disk drives to optimize performance by reducing bottlenecks from data, log files, and temp work areas
•Provide for patching for CPU’s as they are released as well as maintenance upgrades as needed
•Provide guidance, consultation, and analysis of database instances in a multi-client statewide hosting environment
Required Skills:
•Thorough understanding of the relational database model and solid theoretical knowledge of relational database techniques; ability to see the big picture and
conceptualize and document creative solutions
•Experience in designing, modeling, developing, and supporting large Oracle, Oracle RAC and Microsoft SQL databases
•Experience installing standalone and Oracle RAC databases
•GRID configuration and installation
•Familiarity with CPU patching procedures
•Experience with Data Guard configuration, operation, and monitoring
•Experience with Data Guard options for Disaster Recovery
•Experience with RMAN backup capabilities and operations (Net Backup also desired)
•Usage of Export/Import and Cloning to move data between environments
•Experience using flashback recovery
•Windows, Linux, Solaris, and AIX operating systems experience
•Knowledge of server-side development issues surrounding triggers, stored procedures, and packages
•Documentation skills
•Ability to communicate (orally and written) at all levels - clients to management
•Oracle and ms-SQL Server tuning skills
