SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
The agency has decided to use the open source product MRTG for monitoring network traffic within the agency. The successful candidate will have previous experience with planning, installing, configuring, documenting and training others on the MRTG product.

Responsibilities & Duties:
The State seeks a skilled network engineer with relevant experience on similar projects that can complete the installation, configuration, documentation and turnover for MRTG (Multi Router Traffic Grapher). The Network Engineer will report to the DHHS Enterprise Architecture Team. The Network Engineer will work with other DHHS network engineers and technical staff. The position is focused on planning, installing, configuring and documenting how to utilize the MRTG open source tool for use within the DHHS network.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
•Significant experience with network architectures
•Self-starter that takes initiative
•Demonstrated success in developing, documenting and implementing MRTG solutions
•Excellent communication, organization, prioritization and delegation skills
•Ability to develop, propose and present solutions/approaches to business and technical challenges
•Good written and oral communications skills, including the ability to give presentations to the management team. Strong proficiency in English is required.
•Willingness and ability to effectively engage with people and organizations

PREFERRED SKILLS:
•Specific experience with the MRTG open source application
•Specific experience with installation and configuration of network monitoring tools
•Experience with installing and configuring MRTG at least once on a network with at least 50 nodes
•Experience with using other network monitoring tools, such as network traffic simulators, is desirable.
•Public sector experience is a plus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field. Years of experience can substitute for formal education.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
None required. Technical and/or Project management certifications from recognized sources are desirable.
