Description:
DOR has implemented SAP Business Objects (BO) as its tool set for Business Intelligence. DOR wishes to engage a systems software programmer experienced in Business
Objects to support the continuing development of the DOR Business Intelligence program. The following position description details the skills and tasks that are required of the systems software programmer. These tasks/skills do not include database administration support or technical infrastructure support tasks, as they fall under a different support area within the DOR IRM organization. Reporting to DOR Manager of Information Services and working under limited supervision, perform the technical analysis, universe and report/dashboard design, development, implementation, information architecture and metadata creation for DOR business intelligence programs. Work will include management reporting for operational systems under development, as well as reports and dashboards for agency key measures and opportunities for trending and forecasting. Develop Business Intelligence applications utilizing a variety of data sources, including SQL Server databases, flat files, Access databases, and Excel spreadsheets. Deliverables will include reports, templates, and dashboards. Serve as a resource to users of the Business Objects tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
1.Candidate should expect to be involved in the full lifecycle of Business Objects implementation, taking on roles beyond that of a developer when necessary. Must be comfortable being involved in business analysis and testing tasks with BO Business Analysts and QA Analyst in addition to architecture and development.
2.Participate in on-going efforts to implement best practices via process improvement and development of standards for BO applications.
3.Assist in sessions with business users and BO Business Analysts to formulate application (Universe/Report/Dashboard) design requirements.
4.Develop reports, dashboards, Web Intelligence artifacts, graphs, displays, drill-downs, and reports as needed to meet needs of business users. Utilize Web Intelligence, Desk Intelligence, Query As A Web Service, XCelcius, and Live Office as needed.
5.Complete unit testing of BO deliverables and work with BO Business and Quality Assurance Analysts and business users to support System Test and User Acceptance Test.
6.Provide ongoing support for BO application deliverables; respond to reported defects and take corrective measures as needed
REQUIRED SKILLS:
•Strong analytical skills.
•Experience in working in a Microsoft SQL Server environment using 2005 and 2008 systems.
•Expert knowledge of, and experience in Business Objects Enterprise XI R3 platform with strong technical knowledge of various components such as Universe design, Query
As A Web Service, InfoView, Dashboard Manager, XCelcius, Web Intelligence etc.
•Strong development experience with reporting using Web Intelligence, Desktop Intelligence, and XCelsius, including use of filters and drill-downs linking sets of
multiple reports.
•Strong experience in XCelcius creating Dashboards to include trending, forecasting, and reporting of key business performance indicators.
•Strong SQLP background in creating calculations and variables per the business requirements.
•Ability to learn new applications and skills sets.
•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
•Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with business users, management, vendors, and peers.
•Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
•Understanding of deployment methodology concepts including design, build, testing, and deployment.
