Java Developer with Tapestry/Struts, SQL Server, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, Redhat Linux, Eclipse, svn, MMIS and medicaid/insurance/government experience

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
This expert level software engineering position will be responsible for system analysis, high-level architecture and design, modern software development, unit and systems testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex Web systems and service-oriented development. This position requires experience with Java/C++ and/or other modern object-oriented development, web application development, web service development, and distributed systems development.
Duties include:
•Complete architectural, design and code review of current WebTool progress
•Works with business owners, stakeholders, potential users, enterprise architects, and other software engineers to elicit, develop, and document next phases of WebTool development
•Designs, oversees, and develops WebTool components
•Works with Clemson’s infrastructure team (CSO) to align infrastructure with WebTool application needs/use
•Provide production support for WebTool application
•Provides technical training/mentoring and input to other related software teams on the integration and interoperations of the WebTool
•Ensures that all deliverables and activities are completed with high quality and in a timely fashion.
•Reports on project status and strategies orally and in writing.
•Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
The Software Engineer role has three major attributes: enterprise-class web application design/architecture, web application development, and effective participation/contribution with business owners and product development leaders. Candidates must display excellence in all areas.
•Demonstrated experience leading Java application development efforts
•Strong background in enterprise web-application development
•Deep knowledge of web-based application architectures and production environments
•Understanding of appropriate development and testing tools
•Project planning experience
•Superb written and oral communications skills, including the ability to elicit requirements, document system as built, and develop business process models. Strong proficiency in English is required.
•Impeccable integrity. This project will have very high visibility and will impact significant expenditures of public funds. Candidates must be confident with their abilities to make correct decisions and the courage to speak out when necessary.
•Willingness and ability to effectively engage with people and organizations on a continuous basis.

•Public sector experience is a plus.
