The systems requirements for the SCDE applications can be met with either physical machines or virtual servers in your hosting environment.
We employ virtual servers in our environment. VSA and ePortfolio each have a dedicated virtual server, SelectSurvey, SupportSuite and the SCVSP portal share a virtual server and the Teacher Village validation application shares space on another.

Recommendations for Server Systems to Support SCDE Applications
Note: If yours is a virtualized environment, you can combine the listed elements onto fewer physical systems. For example, the VSA server and the ‘Supportsuite, SelectSurvey, Portal’ server can be combined onto 1 physical machine housing 2 virtual servers provided there is sufficient processor, RAM and HDD capacity.

These recommendations are on outfitting individual physical servers.
ePortfolio
Hardware:
* 2.40 GHz quad core processor
* 8 Gb RAM
* 1Tb Hard Disk Drive

Software
* Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
* ColdFusion 9
* MS SQL Server 2008 (all requirements for MS SQL for all of
these applications can be met with a single installation)

VSA
Hardware:
* 2.40 GHz quad core processor
* 8 Gb RAM
* 500Gb Hard Disk Drive

Software
* Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
* MS SQL Server 2008

We do want to note that the VSA application was installed and configured on our servers by a technician from FLVS. We set up the basic server and gave him remote access as FLVS required. He did not provide any documentation on the process he used, and whenever we've asked FLVS for documentation on the system they've responded that none exists. The process of moving this is likely to be time-consuming and involve a lot of trial and error. We have several possible methods in mind, but we aren't sure which will work.
