Description:
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, NC is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) contractor assignment to provide Lan Integration services. The primary role of this position is to design, configure and maintain the University’s WLAN, 802.1x and VPN infrastructure. In addition, this resource will take an active role in capacity planning and network monitoring.
Responsibilities include:
•Day to day operations of the organization’s core voice and data networks (wired and wireless)
•Network technology evaluations
•Protocol analysis
•Configuration and research
•Complex troubleshooting and analysis
•Special network projects
Essential Functions:
•60% - Network configuration.
•30% - Incident and problem management.
•10% - Using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to diagnose problems and determine source.
Required:
•Bachelor’s Degree in related field or the recognized equivalent in work experience or self-study
Required Skills:
•Experience in Cisco LAN, WAN, Security, VPN & Voice Technologies
•Experience implementing/managing Cisco products including but not limited to 76xx series routers, 37xx/45xx/65xx series switches, ASA firewall
•Experience implementing/managing MPLS on the LAN
•Experience with Alcatel-Lucent QIP products
•Experience with Cisco & Netscreen firewalls
•Experience with F5 BigIP & Cisco ACE load-balancing
Required Knowledge Of:
•802.11a/b/g/n
•802.1x authentication
Preferred Skills:
•Minimum of three (3) years in a Cisco networking environment; Cisco and/or Meru certifications
Preferred Hands-On Experience with:
•Meru Networks WLAN technologies
•BlueSocket WLAN technologies
•Avenda authentication/authorization technologies
•Implementing/managing OSPF/EIGRP/BGP routing protocols in an enterprise network environment
•Structured cabling including Category 5-6 UTP; 110 blocks & patch panels, single-mode & multi-mode fiber
