Network Engineer (CCNP/CCIE) with Virtualization, LAN/WAN/VLAN, SAN, RTLS/VPN/TCP/IP, SIP, VDI, and Project Management experience

The Department of Health and Human Services is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 12 month) assignment for a contractor (technology specialists) position. Technology Specialists responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform technical analysis of the current “as-built” network/infrastructure for the purpose of designing and implementing a new medical grade IT network/infrastructure solution.
• Gather and define business, functional and technical requirements definition.
• Create conceptual and architecture/designs (network and security), specifications, IT infrastructure implementation plans, for custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
• Install, configure, integrate and test (all levels) IT infrastructure components/systems (custom and COTS).
• Provide IT infrastructure/systems support and transition knowledge to operations and maintenance support staff.
• Create technical documentation and training materials and conduct training.
• Perform product/system research and evaluation.
• Support the development of technical requirements and evaluation of RFI/RFP/IFBs.
• Perform IT planning, systems conversion and/or migration.
• Work with the Senior Architect to assure continuity of planned technologies.
• Review technical documents produced by the Developer or other external sources.
• Perform technical architecture and other deliverable reviews for large-scale projects.
• Assist the DHHS Project Manager with technical work breakdown structures, technical cost estimation and risk management
• Perform tasks as assigned by the DHHS Project Manager.
Required:
• An in-depth understanding of distributed computing using N-tier, distributed processing, client/server, and Internet/intranet technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of network infrastructures,
• Virtualization (Server and Desktop)
• Experience with LANs; VLANs; WANs; WLANs; Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2)
• Knowledge of SANs; Server Platforms;
• RTLS; VPN; TCP/IP;
• Session initiation protocol (SIP); voice, data and unified communications; and programming techniques.
• Experience developing technical and non-technical solutions for supporting business process reengineering.
• Experience with large scale projects crossing functional areas using state-of-the-art technologies.
• Is very comfortable with hands-on technical consultation roles and working with end user clients.
Experience with strategic planning.
• Experience developing/reviewing assessment tools.
• Able to produce and review documents related to technical requirements, designs and implementation plans.
• The Advanced Technology Specialist must have Technical Lead experience on medium to large, IT infrastructure implementation projects.
Preferred:
• CCNP, CCIE or equivalent experience.
• Eight (8) years experience as an Advanced Technology Specialists
• VDI experience
