Candidates will be evaluated on the following criteria: 
Additional skill sets include: 

At least eight years experience with Unisys DMS/II Database Administration on Unisys 

       Libra Mainframe

At least five years experience with COBOL

At least five years experience with COMS, BLSCHED, BLSOURCE and BLLIB

At least three years experience with ALGOL

At least two years experience with Insyte

Federal Real ID act requires that this candidate be a US Citizen

This contractor will serve as the Senior Database Administrator for the Unisys mainframe DMS II and related software.  This position is responsible for instructing and assisting application developers in the design and use of DMS II databases, ALGOL support, and INSYTE software and access to mainframe data. This position will assist with changes to Mainframe databases to support the Business Application Modernization (BAM) project. Support any database restores that are required. The Contractor shall conduct ongoing system maintenance, enhancements and upgrade activities to the Unisys Mainframe databases. Additionally, the Contractor shall conduct knowledge transfer sessions with MDTMB on the supported systems. 

The Contractor shall be responsible for the following duties:

Provide mainframe application development support.

Monitor the performance of all production databases and redesign/reorganize to optimize when necessary.

Educate application programmers on DMS II programming language constructs.

Monitor the development of new application programs to ensure that efficient coding practices are employed and that database integrity is maintained.

Perform database extracts to support other State initiatives.

Manage developers in selection and use of other file management options and access tools.

Perform troubleshooting procedures, such as reviewing database access and usage for performance issues.

Oversee mainframe database design/maintenance.

Mentor other database administrators.

Act as database architect for all new database creation and for changes made to existing databases to accommodate new application initiatives.

Develop and maintain procedures for backing up and recovering all databases.

Serve as technical consultant to all Agency project managers with regard to data structures and efficient applications processes.

Design data and process flows.

Makes recommendations on applications/processes.
Sole responsibility for modifications to the Agency’s critical ALGOL programs to accommodate all new application initiatives.
Perform and direct staff in using Insyte software and queries into the databases.
