Description:
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Client Services Data Warehouse (CSDW) is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) contractor to provide Database Management Services as a Sybase IQ DBA resource. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the database is tuned and performing optimally and will be responsible for performance and system improvements across all business areas:
Division of
Social Services, Division of Child Development, Division of Aging and Adult Services, Division of Medical Assistance, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services, and the Division of Public Health.
The candidate will assist with:
• Supporting all day to day CSDW activities. Database activities including definition of data requirements, data modeling, data design, data modification, data scrubbing, data definition, index and table creation/maintenance, stored procedure development, forecasting data growth/capacity planning, scheduling, creation and execution of back up and recovery processes, performance monitoring and tuning and data conversion.
• Design and implementation of EIS Disability Tracking Process.
Implementation Of:
• Child Welfare Child Placement and National Youth and Transition Database projects. Aging Resource Management Systems data.
• Office of Child Support Enforcement - Most Recent Record Indicator to allow for more accurate reporting on OCSE-157 Federal Report.
• Child Care Allocation Amounts for accurate fiscal tracking.
• Coding fix to allow for accurate federal reporting as identified by auditors.
• Match between US Department of Defense and the USDA FNS data.
Required Skill Sets:
• Minimum (5) yrs experience supporting & enhancing large database environments • Minimum (3) yrs experience analyst/programming exp, preferably with large, complex automation implementation efforts, including data warehousing implementation & support.
• Experience mapping data from source system – destination • SDK development & support of the auxiliary web applications • Expertise in: SQL Server 2000/2005 admin. & development – Coding - execution of shell scripts on a Unix platform - Windows scripting & Extraction Transformation Load (ETL) processes - network administration - troubleshooting including Firewall/VPN configuration/ troubleshooting knowledge.
• Experience: business process analysis, component-based development & database design, developing detailed program specs, coding, testing & troubleshooting.
• DBA experience (warehousing related projects)
Preferred:
• Experience: UNIX schedulers & entity/version control software • Experience using: Microsoft Sourcesafe version control & Crontab scheduler software - Business Objects XI Tool Suite including, Security, Universe Development, Web intelligence Web tools • Demonstrated technical expertise with (e.g. Sybase IQ, SAS, Business Objects, UNIX, MVS).
