Job Description:
The NCDA&CS-Agronomic Division is seeking an experienced software developer (short term contractor approx. 6 months) to continue custom development of a Web/Windows based Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Agronomic Division’s six laboratories (Nematology, Plant, Waste, Solution, Media, and Soil Testing). The LIMS shall be developed in accordance with NCDA&CS ITSS Software Development and Database standards and Statewide ITS architecture standards.
The Agronomic Division’s Nematology, Plant, Waste, Solution, Media, and Soil Testing laboratories utilize the LIMS to:
- Track and manage various sample analyses through the entire process of laboratory analysis
- Collect laboratory and grower data
- Perform calculations for recommendations
- Generate end-user reports
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Develop LIMS software based on existing Screen Prototype and Functionality design documents. The LIMS software shall include the following:
- Web based components: Maintenance Utilities, Worklists, Recommendations to include Calculations, Status Advance, Shipment Tracking Interface, Accounts Receivable Interface, and Reporting and Ad hoc query. Lab Instrument Interfaces to include Calculations will be Windows based.
- These components shall be integrated with the following recently developed, and functioning, Web based LIMS components: Role Based Security (interfaced with NCID and Active Directory), Sample Receiving, Data Entry, and Maintenance Utilities.
The Contractor shall :
- Attend weekly status meetings with the Agency Project Manager and Agronomic staff
- Adhere to a project schedule and milestones.
The Contractor shall provide:
- Weekly written status report
- Detailed system documentation and user training for approximately sixty NCDA&CS Agronomic staff.
- A plan for knowledge transfer and turnover of the application to NCDA&CS Information Technology personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in a Visual Basic.NET software development environment
- Bachelors degree in an Information Technology related field
- Microsoft certified in software development
- Excellent communication, planning and organization skills
Ability To:
- Translate non-technical user requirements into a technical format
- Communicate technical concepts to technical staff and non-technical business users
- Develop positive business customer relationships and
- Preferred: Software development experience in implementation of a similar system
