IN001099 - Network (LAN) Engineer with Cisco switches, ASA firewall, TACACS, VPN, CWSI, DHCP, DNS, IP/VOIP, WebSense, and security experience

Description:

The Employment Security Commission (ESC) is seeking a (short term approx. 6 month) contractor to support the extension of ESC Unemployment Insurance claims processing and administration in a time of extremely high unemployment in North Carolina. Contractor support is required to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve problems on the ESC local area network (LAN) used by UI employees and ESC customers during the extended hours (Monday – Friday 1:00pm -10:00pm).

 

Critical LAN systems include:

Firewalls, core switches, distribution switches, content services switch that manages access to ESC web servers, switches that support ESC production database servers, Domain Name Services (DNS), and DHCP.

 

The selected candidate will be expected to coordinate troubleshooting efforts with ITS affecting ITS-provisioned WAN services and will be assigned to the ESC Network Engineering Technical Support Team and will collaborate with the Help Desk, systems administrators supporting mainframe computing, UNIX host platforms, and Windows/Novell server host platforms.

 

This candidate will support multiple assignments using knowledge, skills, and abilities that are demonstrated in the following network

technologies:

• Cisco Systems 6500, 4500, 3500 series switches • Local office LANs using Cisco Systems 3500 series switches • Packet Capturing and Protocol Analysis • ASA series Firewalls, VPN services, AAA Services • Network Management Applications: CWSI, DHCP, DNS • Internet Content Filtering and Proxy Services using Websense, • 802.11 Wireless LAN Access Points & Bridges

 

Requirements for the design analysis, testing, development, and implementations of new technologies:

• Network Design/implementation for improved throughput and security between development, test and production networks • Firewall Administration - Including modification and cleanup of ACL rules.

• Content switching for load balancing WWW application servers • Work as team member with systems administrators to evaluate architecture proposals for impact on network security design and operation • Support the installation and provide configuration support of HP Blade System Switches

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

Required:

• Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience supporting complex, fast Ethernet, Layer 3 switched/routed LAN’s.

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience supporting ASA firewall, VPN Concentrator, TACACS administration.

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience supporting dns/ dhcp environments.

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience supporting network management applications and protocol analysis and packet capturing tools.

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience supporting IP Telephony & VoIP operations on a complex data network.
