Network Engineer (CCSP) with Cisco ASA Firewalls, security, change management, MS Exchange Server, and AVAYA (Norte) LAN Switching products experience

Duration: 6months
Location: Raleigh, NC

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a short term contractor (approx. 6 month assignment) to to design, configure, test, monitor, and maintain the NCDOT computer network security infrastructure hardware and software, primarily NCDOT and ITS managed firewall infrastructure. The selected candidate will assist the Network Services Network Securityteam providing advanced technical production support primarily for firewall services and will interact with employees at all levels in all DOH, DMV, and other DOT offices across the State as needed to design network security solutions and provide an advanced point of escalation for network security issues.

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
REQUIRED:
• Advanced experience with enterprise and data center deployments using Cisco ASA firewalls.
• Proficient operational support of Cisco ASA firewalls in an enterprise and data center environment.
• Currently active CCSP (Cisco Certified Security Professional) certification, or expiration within past 1 year.
• Moderate familiarity with all network technologies and equipment, particularly data center LAN environments.
• Experience with structured change management processes.
• Ability to manage tasks and meet schedules.
• Must have good organizational and English communication skills, written and oral.
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must have excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Willingness to accommodate occasional regional travel.

PREFERRED:
Experience with:
• Avaya (Nortel) LAN switching products.
• Exchange Email and Calendar with Outlook client

Experience in a DOT or Government environment

Currently active CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert) Security certification, or expiration within past 2 years.
